Frequently Asked Questions
What is the "fundraising obligation"?
The fundraising obligation exists to promote participation in band fundraisers. This can be met in two ways:
1) Buy-out (pay the obligation up front)
2) Raise the obligation through participation in various fundraisers
Why are the fees so high?
Running a successful band program is an expensive venture. Students generally receive a 150% return on fees through instruction, equipment, uniforms, food, transportation, etc.
Are students required to participate in marching band?
No, but it is recommended.
What is "Concert Band Camp"?
Concert Band Camp is an annual camp that runs on a Friday evening and Saturday morning near the beginning of the second semester. A wide variety of high qualified clinicians are brought in to offer instrument specific instruction to the students. The camp is a co-curricular requirement for members of Concert Band and Wind Ensemble.
How can I help the band?
We are always seeking volunteers to chaperone, prepare food, serve on the OLBPA Board, etc. We understand that schedules do not always allow time to volunteer, but any help is appreciated.
